Financial Secretary, Hillary Knapp has received 16 pledges so far for 2025, which is
comparable to previous years. Treasurer Lois Jackson reported the Church accounts
had a good year. Council approved the transfer of any 2024 positive Net Ordinary
Income to the Building Fund, which serves basically as an escrow account for buildings
maintenance.
Suggestions to improve the worship services in Fellowship Hall include moving one of
the food tables to accommodate more people being seated at coffee hour and that the
hymnals and Bibles be actively handed to folks as they arrive. Rev Sara encouraged
Council and all to read the Annual Reports to learn how much went on during the past
year. She thanked everyone for submitting timely reports and recognized
accomplishments of all.
Trustees have not met in person but members worked together online through year-end
financial reports.
Barbara White reported the Deacons plan to invite Joan Rowe, Ellen Knapp and Phyllis
Torrey to their February meeting to assist with contact information of families and friends
of the deceased for Community Remembrance Service. John Astone agreed to help
with welcoming people and being sure parishioners have Bibles and hymnals. Barbara
and Mary Lou Webster coordinated Deacons and Music and Worship Committee 2024
Annual Reports.
Church Safety Committee—Rev Sara will contact Town Manager and Police Chief for
meeting to offer their feedback in early February.
Kristen Varian and Barbara White plan to alternate months, taking turns doing updating
of the BCC website.
Jeff Stewart heard from Vermont Historic Preservation Fund that the Church’s Steeple
Repair grant application was awarded. The news arrived just in time for Christmas!
Council plans to do a plaque listing the names of all (non-anonymous) donors to the
Steeple Fund.
An energy audit of the Church buildings is to be requested along with contacting a lay
person from Fair Haven who has gathered information from other churches which have
done upgrades to heating systems.
