Summary of March 11 Council Meeting

March 25, 2025

Reverend Sara and Council accepted an offer from Alan Chiang to do a piano concert at our Church on Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m.. He is doing in appreciation for use of church’s piano for practices while in town helping a friend. Look for concert details on BCC Website, Front Porch Forum and local papers.

The Council has authorized Tim Guiles and Maiden Vermont singers to practice in Fellowship Hall on Sunday afternoons. Tim offered for the singers to do a steeple fundraiser concert for the Church.

Deacons have organized food shelf donations with particular categories for each month. March is personal care items. April’s category will be pasta and pasta sauces. The Food Shelf supplies are low now and they are very appreciative of donations from BCC.

April 6 will be final winter service in Fellowship Hall. Palm Sunday, April 13, will be in the sanctuary. Easter Sunday is April 20.

Maundy Thursday, April 17 will be held in Fellowship Hall. Other churches expected to join will be Union Church of Proctor, Good Shepherd Lutheran, and Cornwall. Other churches were also invited. On Good Friday, plan to join the Cross Walk to St Mary’s Catholic Church, service and soup with hot cross buns.

Deacons are looking into getting Wi-Fi hook up in the Sanctuary, to possibly accommodate Zoom service participation. The reason for this is to provide an opportunity for those members and friends who aren’t able to be in person at worship due to health concerns or travel, as well as for people looking for a church community to visit.

Discussed Christian Education, the Jennie Deinema will and background of the scholarships program, and possible use of funds for additional student experiences. Currently, one OV student is expected to apply this year or next.

Energy audit—Is it possible for Heat Squad or Efficiency Vermont to do an update of a 2012 energy audit? Trustees will be asked to assess if installing heat pumps in both buildings is a good choice. It was noted both the Congregational and Catholic Churches in Pittsford have installed heat pumps.

Hillary is to ask her friend if he is available to help us with community dinner on April 5th.

Reverend Sara and Julie Demaree are to attend the Vermont Conference Annual Meeting at Grace Congregational Church, Rutland on May 2nd and 3rd .

Next Council meeting will be 6:00 pm, Tuesday, April 8.

Respectfully submitted,

Phyllis Torrey
